GoHere knows that you take your privacy seriously. We do, too. We are committed to giving you transparency of our privacy practices and control over your data in connection with our services (as set out in our Terms of Use, hereinafter “Services”). We provide these Services using services and technology of our partners. This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) and other data that we gather when you are accessing the Services.
What Personal Information does GoHere collect?
Personal Information you provide to us: we receive and store any information you enter on our platform or provide to us in any other way. The types of Personal Information collected may include your name, email address, social usernames, contacts and information about how you use our platform. We ask permission to access your contacts only to connect and share your app content with them. We automatically receive your location when you use our Service through the app, using location services of the operating system or browser and sensor data from your device (for example nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers). The Personal Information you provide is used to deliver the Services, set up a user account and profile, improve the platform, and let you share recommendations and reviews. We also process Personal Information to prevent fraud or misuse of our Services. Information collected automatically: when you use the Services through the app, our system records information on our server logs from your mobile platform, including location, device identifiers and application IDs. Unless stated otherwise, we only use this data in aggregate form. We may share aggregate information with partners so they understand how people use their services and ours. We use it to adapt the platform to your device, communicate in a language you speak, show relevant recommendations, and prevent fraud or misuse. Additionally, we process Personal Information based on your (optional) consent. Any optional permission, for example sharing GPS location, can be withdrawn through your device settings. You can withdraw newsletter consent through the unsubscribe link in each newsletter. We are under a legal obligation to store certain general information and payment data for tax authorities.
Determining and sharing location
GoHere deals with location, so in order to work we need to know your location. Whenever you open and use our apps on your mobile device, we use the location information from that device (for example latitude and longitude) to tailor the experience to where you are. Depending on your privacy settings, this information may be shared with others.
GoHere features
The Services include several features that let you share your information with others. If you choose to provide Personal Information using certain features within the app, that information may be available to the wider community of service providers, or may be published on our sites and subject to indexing by third-party search engines.
Sharing with partners, business transfers and protection
Our partners: in addition to the sharing described above, we may enter into relationships with a variety of businesses. When one of these is associated with your transaction, we will share the Personal Information related to that transaction with that business, for example a city or country focused local app. Business transfers: if GoHere or substantially all of its assets are acquired, or in the unlikely event GoHere goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets transferred or acquired. Protection: we may release Personal Information when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with the law, enforce our conditions of use, or protect the rights, property or safety of GoHere, our employees, our users or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Is my Personal Information secure?
Your account is protected by a password for your privacy and security. You need to prevent unauthorised access to your account and Personal Information by choosing and protecting your password appropriately and signing off after use. We endeavour to safeguard user information, but we cannot guarantee security: unauthorised entry, hardware or software failure and other factors may compromise it at any time. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of other sites. When linking to another site, read the privacy policy stated there. This Privacy Policy only governs information collected via the apps through which we provide the Services. We work hard to protect your Personal Information from unauthorised or unlawful access, alteration, disclosure, use or destruction. We take appropriate and up-to-date technical and organisational measures: employees have agreed to confidentiality, access to Personal Information is limited on a need-to-know basis, and we use secure network connections.
How can I delete my account or Personal Information?
Send an email to info@gohere.app if you want to delete your Personal Information or account. We process the request as fast as possible, and at least within 4 weeks. You will receive an email confirmation when your data is deleted. On iOS you can also delete your account on the platform via your profile. In relation to your Personal Information, you have the right to: • request access to the Personal Information we process about you; • request us to correct, update, or shield your Personal Information; • request a copy of the Personal Information we have processed, and have it sent to another data controller; • file a complaint against the processing of your data; • file a complaint with your National Data Protection Authority (in the Netherlands: Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens); • withdraw your consent at any time.
Will there be changes to this Privacy Policy?
We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. Users are bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when they use the app after such changes have been posted.
